Martela Diagonal : Flexible Furniture for Public Places

Here is a recent entry at the Milan Furniture Fair by o4i. This piece is called the Diagonal that is being offered by Martela, a Finnish Furniture company. The driving force behind the sofa design is the great need for being flexible when it comes to designing seating for public places. The pictures present a striking array of possibilities in how Diagonal can be put together. An interesting fact is that Diagonal’s core essence comes down to two basic pieces: a padded seat and a screen. These two pieces can be arranged however needed to suit the situation. I like that the essence of the design is so basic and yet flexible in how it can suit our ever changing needs in furniture for public places. More information: here.
