Those who have an interest in Indian history and architecture would be familiar with the “Jali” concept. “Jali walls,” are essentially perforated walls that were used to cool and ventilate houses in olden times and even now can be spotted in villages and rural areas. It is clear that the “Ecooler” which is a system of hollow ceramic tiles by Mey Kahn and Boaz Kahn seek inspiration from this traditional Indian practice. Interestingly the designers also market their product as a cooling system thats cools a room by running water through its channels.Sometimes you need to look at the past for inspiration, to create a better future!
