Quirky Robot Wallpaper and Fabric by Aimee Wilder

Even in the ultramodern world in which we live — a world in which we can accomplish a dozen tasks at a time on a smartphone and drive in cars that tell us where to go instead of the other way around — the kitsch value of robots is still sky-high.  While we’ve clearly entered a Jetsons-era level of existence and then some, there remains something kind of sweet and quirky about the notion of a rudimentary metal replica of a human with a monotonous voice and lots of buttons.  That’s probably why we’re so enamored with designer Aimee Wilder’s textile collections — particularly her robot wallpaper and fabric designs, which oddly enough, could actually work in an office or rec room as well as they could in a children’s room.  These whimsical monochrome and duotone prints are equally interesting on a wall or when used to upholster a pillow or piece of furniture.  Available for $48 per 27″ x 36″ sheet, Wilder’s robot wallpaper comes in three color combinations, while her “robot,” “girlbot,” “rocket,” “gameland” and “analog nights” fabric runs $145 per yard.
