Seung Han Lee’s Unusual Chair & Magazine Rack All In One
We’re big fans of any piece of furniture that manages to accomplish not one, but two, functions simultaneously without even trying. Such is the case of Korean designer Seung Han Lee’s magazine rack chair, an unusual chair that — just like it sounds — also doubles as a magazine rack. Made of stainless steel and pure imagination, the chair has an added visual feature: its striped wooden feet complement a bookshelf also made by Lee, called the “Smiling Bookcase.” A perfect conversation piece for a living room and a rather functional element for, say, a doctor’s office waiting room, while it may not be the most comfortable thing on earth, it gets the job done when it comes to stopping and re-starting an article without missing a beat. Says the designer: “The design’s most important feature is that your magazines can be stored away conveniently by hanging them open on the rails at the last page you read and thus you do not lose your place.” In other words, it’s basically the fanciest… or at least most fanciful… bookmark you’ve ever seen.
