Dream Job, Redefined: The Desk Bed from Athanasia Leivaditou
Today’s post lends itself perfectly to jokes about sleeping on the job, or landing a dream job, or not getting out of bed for less than however-much-money per day, but we thought we’d just go ahead and get those out of the way right up front. The desk bed from Athanasia Leivaditou of Studio NL is either one of the smartest or most depressing things we’ve ever seen; smart in that it’s a fantastic solution for a small space that requires both working and sleeping quarters — say, a tiny studio apartment or micro-apartment inhabited by a freelancer who works from home, and potentially depressing in that we’re wondering if there are any CEOs out there eyeing it and thinking, “That could be a great addition to our offices! No one would ever have to leave!” All improbabilities aside, though, we have to commend Leivaditou on this concept piece, since let’s face it: a 15-minute power nap after lunch and before a second round of coffee can do wonders for productivity in the afternoon, can’t it? Without regard to our own sense of work-life balance, we have to admit we’re interested to see what sort of hybrid concoctions Studio NL (which specializes in ultra-modern workplace furnishings) thinks up next.
