Vincent Leman Hears a Who

With a wild visual sensibility somewhere between Dr. Seuss and The Mad Hatter, Vincent Leman defies logic with much of his work.  Sometimes he crafts two pieces separately and fits them into one another in a jigsaw fashion to make a cohesive armoire.  For other pieces, he balances a bold, curved element of movement with leveling feet underneath to trick the eye into believing a nightstand, for example, has taken on a life of its own.  Leman uses high-quality domestic birch panels with a sustainable wood fiber core and environmentally-friendly paints in bold jewel tones before hand-distressing each piece and finishing it off with a clear coat.  Not for the faint of heart, these objets d’art are sure to strike up conversation among dinner guests while delighting the kids, who might expect the Cat in the Hat to come jumping out of a drawer at any moment. Starting at $1070; available at Dust Furniture and Artful Home, depending on collection.
